Cordyceps sinensis is also known as "caterpillar fungus", as the mushroom grows in nature on a certain type of caterpillar. Our Cordyceps is cultivated as mycelium on a millet substrate.

Cordyceps occurs naturally in the Tibetan highlands. Very early on, the Tibetan yak herders discovered that eating the precious mushroom not only made their animals particularly fertile, but also gave them greater resistance. Since then, cordyceps has been much sought after in Asia as a tonic for vital energy. Athletes also report its strengthening influence.
