Packaging unit: 80g loose tea

Ingredients: Licorice root (Glycyrrhiza glabra)

Herbal medicine traditionally used for gastrointestinal complaints and colds. The tea has an antispasmodic, expectorant, anti-inflammatory and expectorant effect.

Aurica Licorice Root Tea consists of the dried, mostly unpeeled roots of the licorice plant "Glycyrrhiza glabra", also known as liquorice. Due to its intense sweetness, liquorice is often added to bronchial and cold teas as a flavoring agent. Traditionally, the aromatic-sweet tea is used for inflammatory diseases in the gastrointestinal tract and for diseases of the upper respiratory tract. Aurica liquorice root tea is therefore the ideal remedy for heartburn and acid-related stomach cramps. By helping to clear mucus and facilitate expectoration, it also effectively counteracts colds with sore throats and coughs.

Indications:

  • Traditionally used to relieve digestive complaints, including a burning sensation in the upper abdomen
  • Traditionally used to loosen phlegm in colds with coughs.

Dosage instructions and use:

For digestive complaints:
Adults including the elderly
Single dose: 1.5 to 2 g cut licorice root is poured over with boiling water (approx. 150 ml) and after about 10 to 15 minutes passed through a tea strainer if necessary. Daily dose: 2 to 4 times after meals.
For colds:
Single dose: Pour boiling water (approx. 150 ml) over 1.5 g of chopped licorice root and strain through a tea strainer after about 10 to 15 minutes, if necessary. Daily dose: 2 times.

Duration of use:
For digestive complaints:

Do not use for longer than 4 weeks.
If symptoms persist for longer than 2 weeks or recur periodically, or if symptoms worsen, consult a doctor.
For colds:
If symptoms persist for longer than 1 week, if shortness of breath, fever or purulent sputum occur, a doctor must be consulted.

Overdose: Use for more than 4 weeks and use of high doses can lead to overdose symptoms such as water retention, hypokalemia, increased blood pressure, cardiac arrhythmia or hypertensive encephalopathy.

Contraindications: Hypersensitivity to licorice root.

Precautions for use and warnings:
Patients who drink licorice root tea should not consume other products containing licorice root, as serious side effects such as water retention, hypokalemia, increased blood pressure and cardiac arrhythmias may occur.

Drinking licorice root tea is not recommended for patients who suffer from high blood pressure, have kidney, liver or cardiovascular disease or are known to have hypokalemia, as they are more sensitive to the side effects of licorice root.

Children and adolescents
Due to insufficient data, use in children and adolescents under the age of 18 is not recommended.
Pregnancy and breastfeeding
Safety during pregnancy and breastfeeding has not been sufficiently investigated. Therefore, use during pregnancy and breastfeeding is not recommended.

Interactions:
Licorice root can counteract the effect of blood pressure-lowering drugs.

If you are taking diuretics, cardiac glycosides, corticosteroids, stimulant laxatives or other medicines that can increase electrolyte disturbances, it is not recommended to take licorice root at the same time.

Side effects: No side effects are known when used as directed.
